Trip 2, Day 8 Leg 6
Trip Day - Thursday, September 30
0600-60F/57F. Moon and stars are still out. I stayed fairly warm last night but still used heat to be more comfortable during my study time. Solar is 65%.
0800-Finished my morning study routine. Will make breakfast of Peanut Butter Chex, strawberries, and PB toast.
0821-68F/61F. Getting ready to depart this boat site.

1015-Anchored near Ryan Lake trail head. Leg 6 was 5.2 nm at an average of 4.2 knots. However, I ran out of gas and drifted while I switched tanks, so the average is not accurate. 64F/68F. Solar is 60% (charging at 53w).
Got the kayak ready to go ashore. Loaded my backpack and mounted the Osmo Action on the kayak to do some video on the way to the trail head. Added snacks and water for the hike and headed out.

1446-Returned to the boat after round trips of 1.2 nm hiking and 1.2 nm kayaking. 78F/79F. Very warm! Switched into a short sleeve shirt and shorts. Cracked a cold beer and chewed on some Sesame Bites, to hold me until I fix dinner. The debate in my mind is whether to take a swim or shower, and before or after dinner? A quick swim after dinner was the outcome of the argument between the two positions! But it will be quite cool, so I will be quick about it! Solar 74% (65w).

1710-I finished dinner then took a dive in the lake, three times! Afterward I checked water temperature and it was 61F. Brisk to say the least! I feel better after drying off, but even with air temps of 80F/79F I feel chilled.
I vacuumed the floor to keep active and warm up a bit, but the vac ran out of energy before I was finished. It recharges with USB.
Boat has been swinging 180 degrees all day, back and forth. The set is for SW winds. Time for an aft deck drink while I enjoy my surroundings. Solar is 74%. I reduced freezer temp to equal fridge temp for the remaining days, to conserve the solar battery.

2005-Went out to the aft deck again to enjoy the evening. It is calm and two beavers have been circling the boat demonstrating their displeasure with my presence, since they have a new house under construction near by. I managed to get a lot of video of them and hope I got some good footage? But, I was so busy observing and filming the beavers that I missed getting a photo of a snapping turtle that surfaced right off the port quarter of the boat. I guess I was in his territory too? I moved too quickly and he dove for the bottom, so no pic!

I was back and forth between the sunset and the beavers trying to choose which one I should take pics of. Finally the sun went down, so I lit the table fire and enjoyed that until well after dark. The temps are perfect for sitting out in short sleeves. No mosquitos and the stars are out bright. I let the fire burn out and then sat in the dark, just listening to absolute silence! No birds, no frogs, no crickets, no owls, no noises of any kind. The stars made more noise praising the Lord (Ps 148:3, Job 38:7)! Fantastic night! I wish I could take it home in a bottle.

Solar 74%. 70F/67F so I will leave the doors open tonight again. This is the last day of September and it feels like mid-summer! It is also over halfway through the trip, so I will be turning around and heading inbound tomorrow.
