Trip 2, Day 7 Layover
Trip Day - Wednesday, September 29th
0530-60F/59F. Heat is on. Solar down to 43%.
0830-Finished morning Bible study, prayer, and reading. Today I read about two great men who changed the world. Abraham was one. It says in Genesis 15 "he believed the Lord, and God credited it to him as righteousness." Abraham promptly obeyed God, and as God promised, he became the father of many nations. His influence is still felt today as our example of faith!
The other is George Whitefield (Ch. 13 of "The Light and the Glory") who almost singlehandedly turned the 13 American colonies back to the Lord with the power of the Holy Spirit working through him. He was key in unifying the colonies prior to the revolution and turning a back sliding Church back to the Lord. It was called "The Great Awakening". Between 1736 and 1770 he preached more than 18,000 sermons, speaking literally to his last breath! That effort ultimately led to the unity required to go up against the great world power of the time.
0842-67F/61F. Time to make breakfast. I plan to layover today to maximize the solar input(watts) and enjoy this beautiful boat site.

0910-69F/63F. Breakfast was PB granola, strawberries, and PB toast.
1012-73F/70F. Dishes are done. Will check the solar panel alignment then go see if I have enough firewood for a fire again tonight.
1052-75F/73F. It looks like another hot fall day again! I took a hike and found some dead wood and cut it up for the fire tonight, so now I have plenty firewood. Time to go read for a while.
1156-80F/77F. Went for a longer hike to the west along the shore of the bay, maybe a 1/4 mile toward the campsite around the point to the SW (R92). Unfortunately, I ran into a wall of fallen trees and the trail seemed to peter out. I looked but could not find the trail, so I returned to the boat site to read some more.

1305-Read on shore then came back to the boat to adjust the solar panel alignment again. Solar battery is now up to 68% (103w). 78F/81F.
1451-Starting to think about making dinner, but first I took the Osmo Action over to the rocky area of the beach to record wave action sound for future use. Time to prepare dinner of chili, hot roll, salad, and cold beer. Solar is 76% (100w)

1524-Dinner finished, clean up out of the way. Notes to self: 1. In the future, file a float plan with my daughter. 2. Install a regular VHF radio, since the handhelds seem to have inadequate reach. 3. Install larger fixed solar panels and add additional backup battery capacity.
2024-Came in from the evening fire. A very pleasant evening with a nice cooling breeze off the water. 71F/71F. Solar is up to 81%, a nice rebound but it took a lot of panel manipulation to make that happen! I will leave windows open again tonight. May still need heat in the morning, even though it is still warm out this evening.

2047-Wind began to increase, so I quickly went up to the cabin top and ran a line through all the panels to ensure they don't end up in the drink! When angled to the sun they are not fastened securely. I do use sandbags to keep them from moving in light winds, but I can't risk that at night with the potential of higher winds. Time to go back to the bunk, listen to my audio book, and get some sleep! Chubby has not shown his furry face!
