Trip 2, Day 6, Leg 5

Trip Day - Tuesday, September 28th

0500-57F/52F. Up early. I thought I heard Chubby rummaging around, but could not see anything?

0716-Finished my study time. Temps 68F/52F. Will make breakfast of bacon, eggs, toast, and OJ.

0830-Breakfast finished. Now getting ready to move out. 70F/54F

1046-68F/71F. Comparably warm day.  Arrived at Blueberry Island East (R89) boat site after 7.7 nm traveled, at 4.8 knots average speed.  Beautiful sandy beach and even a picnic table. It's more like a park setting! Very open under the trees and lots of great rock formations.  A prime boat site, though a bit shallow to beach.  I had to move some flat rocks around to position stepping stones to get in and out of the boat without my feet getting wet.

My back is killing me today but I normally don't have back problems? I need to wash the dishes before it gets warmer.

1100-Changed my mind about dishes, they will have to wait, since the solar panels are a priority.  I put the panels up at an angle to get maximum solar energy. Solar battery indicates 30% (141w charging).

1300-Sat on shore with a cold drink just soaking up the beauty around me.  A grand site!  Good mix of rock, sandy beach, and park like forest. I will go up soon to adjust the solar panels with the changing sun. 76F/81F. Very warm in the cabin but pleasant on shore in the shade.

Observed a few fishing boats.  A couple of them appear to be camped around the SW corner of the Island, out of sight. No houseboats have been observed since the morning of Day 4 , I believe their season is over?

1448-I cut some firewood for tonight then sat in the shade and read some of my current novel. Again I rearrange the solar panels.

I am thinking of taking a swim though it is likely cold? The sun beating on the sandy beach may help? As it turned out, I did go swimming, and it was very tolerable, so I cleaned up while I was at it. Very refreshing!

1541-Started dinner of grilled chicken, potatoes, salad, roll, and white wine.

1702-Dinner finished.  Too much food for such a hot day! 82F/80F pretty warm for late September! Flies came out with this heat so now I'm on a killing spree!

2010-Came in from the fire.  Took a bunch of time lapse pics and generally just enjoyed the evening.  Not sure I'm ready for bed yet, or not? 71F/70F. I may go up on deck and let the cabin cool some more. Well maybe not, since I left my chair up on the beach. No place to sit!

Beautiful Ending To The Day!

I finished "Walk The Wire" by Baldacci and now I'm listening to "Playing with Fire" by April Henry.  So, I guess I will crawl into bed anyway.

I did go out on the aft deck for a bit to observe all the stars since it was a nice clear night with the Milky Way very visible. Now it is audio book bed time. 71F/69F. I will leave the windows and doors open tonight though it may be chilly in the morning? Solar got up to 58% today, so I gained from my high yesterday of 46%.  Hopefully that trend will continue.
