Trip 1, Day 6, Leg 6

Trip Day: Sunday, August 1st

0522-64F/59F.  Did not cool down as much as predicted last night.

0805-69F/63F. Study, reading, breakfast, and clean up all done.

Had the left over coffee cake muffin with my coffee earlier while I read.  I warmed it up in my stove top oven and covered it with plenty of melted butter.  Tasted like fresh baked!

Breakfast was granola with strawberries and toast with peanut butter.

Solar shows 31%.  It has never come close to getting back to 100%, since the start of the trip!

1015-Arrived at a small unnamed bay off Mica Bay.  I call the landing "Mica Bay Rock". I checked and passed three other boat sites already occupied! From what I have observed, it looks like some park on a spot and stay there for the duration of their vacation.  Very few move around as much as I do.

67F/69F.  Nice breeze and mostly sunny.  Solar at 39%.  The leg today was 7.9 nm and I averaged 6.1 kts.

1110-69F/70F.  Solar still 39%.  Dishes are done for the day.  I need more sun to charge up my solar battery!  I tilted the solar panels to help...I hope?

1125-Took some video of the site.  Too many clouds working against my solar build up. Solar is now 40%.

1200-Had lunch.  Chicken salad sandwiches with potato chips and white wine.  Still too many clouds!

Lord, clear up the skies so my solar battery recovers to at least 66%.

71F/72F. Very pleasant temperature with a cool breeze.  Thankyou Lord for that!

1220-Solar at 45%, showing 122 watts input.  71F/73F

"Mica Bay Rock" video

1320-Read my book "The Pirate Hunter" by Richard Zacks, the true story of Captain Kidd.  73F/74F

Used up half a tank of fuel (4.5 gal) and traveled 24.7 nm, which is 5.5 mpg.  Range then should be 99 miles with my two 9 gal tanks. (This was later corrected due to unusable fuel in each tank!)

1430-Went swimming, washed up, changed clothes.  Solar is 56%, input is 144 watts, which is good!

1530-76F/81F.  Sat out by the pond behind the "Rock" and watched a mud turtle sun himself.  He jumped in when he saw me but I waited and he returned.  Tried to get a close up photo but the camera was not focusing correctly?

I will go make dinner.  Chili, hot roll, salad, and a cold beer.  Solar at 63%.  Doing better this afternoon!  Less clouds blocking the sun.

Looks Good Doesn't It?

1600-76F/80F.  Solar battery is now at 64%. Input is 109 watts from the panels.

1851-Went back to sitting on the pond and enjoyed some Baileys with chocolates for dessert while I watched the critters. A butterfly who adopted me, a squirrel who wanted to be friends, and a turtle who ignores me, but maintains a watchful eye!

I took a break from my observations to try to catch the last rays of sun with the solar panels.  I'm up to 69% and could hit 70%.  Still 40 watts input.

I Was Able To Tilt The Panels And Still Keep One Corner Of Each Solar Panel Connected With Bungees.  I Also Added Sandbags To Hold Them Down In Case Of Wind

Too much haze from smoke to look at the stars this evening, or I would set up the fire ring.

I'll reposition the solar panels to get the first rays of sun in the morning since I plan to layover tomorrow.  I may hike the trail at the head of Mica Bay, which is about .8 of a mile away. Though, it's supposed to warm up tomorrow and I reached 81F today!  If the morning is cool a hike may still work?

75F/81F.  Will leave the cabin open tonight.  69% was final for the solar battery.  Exceeded my request of the Lord for 66%.  Thankyou Lord for clearing the skies and providing beyond my request!  I hope for 100% tomorrow!

1945-74F/72F.  Will listen to my audio book and hit the sack.
