Trip 1, Day 2, Leg 2

Trip Day: Wednesday, July 28

0600-Got up had a glass of OJ with meds, coffee and cookies while I read my Bible, prayed, and read a portion of "The Christian History of the Constitution of the United States of America by Verna M. Hall, quite a tome! I highly recommend it.

1000-Had breakfast and took off to the next boat site at Eks Bay (K47).  Traveled 1.2 nm averaging 6.8kts.  It is a very rocky site.  I didn't like the traditional tie up, so I made a modification you will see in the pics and videos.

There are two trails at the head of Eks Bay that head out of campground K8 (see the Avenza Map).  My intention was to kayak to this spot and hike one of the trails, but the temps were just too hot!

I went swimming to clean up since it was 87F outside.  I felt refreshed but it made me rethink heading out for a hike!

Instead, I took my chair and shore bag ashore to read, sip some white wine and enjoy the view from on top of the rocky site.

1400-Turned dark with T-storms threatening.  It poured down rain for a while. Had to close the windows on the cabin partially, due to the intensity of the rain.  Finally, I had to close all the windows and doors completely as it was spitting into the cabin.  In this heat that is not a good situation!

I got a little hungry so I had some chips and water while I waited for the rain to stop.

1530-Made dinner.  Grilled burger, baked beans, chips, and a beer. Cleaned up afterwards.

1600-Went ashore to sip some red wine and read until the mosquitos got bad.  But there is a nice breeze keeping them away.

Went back to the boat and restocked water and beer in the fridge. Solar battery was at 60%. I left Forest Lake at 100% and was 90% at launch.  I lose power en route since the portable solar panels can't be on the roof at highway speeds. The solar runs my fridge/freezer.  I did not gain much today, it just held steady in the partly cloudy conditions.  It is supposed to be sunny tomorrow, so hopefully I will recover back to 100%.

Had a second glass of red wine up on the rock scanned around with my field glasses just enjoying the evening.  Later I had chocolate covered almonds with some Bailey's for dessert.  Read some more until the sun was close to down.  Headed to the boat to beat the mosquitos. Temps 78F in/77F out.

1920-Climbed into bed. Will listen to an audio book until it cools a bit and I get sleepy.
