Trip 1, Day 11, Legs 11 & 12

Trip Day - Friday, August 6th

0500-Up early! I have to move the boat because it's pounding on the rocks.  Wind started up in the middle of the night.  I heard a little rain, and after that, the wave action began to cause the boat to beat against the rocks, so I got very little sleep.  I need to move as soon as possible.

0707-It was too dark to navigate safely at 5, so I had some OJ, made coffee, and tried to read my Bible until first light, but I couldn't take the pounding noise, so I began to pull the lines with marginal light.  I finished my coffee enroute.  It was spitting rain as I anchored.  Grey, low clouds. Travel distance was only 1.9 nm averaging 6.3 kts.

0739-Finished breakfast.  May try to catch up on lost sleep.  Much more peaceful at anchor than pounding on rocks!

0855-Read my book "The Goodnight Trail" trying to get tired enough to sleep, but simply couldn't nod off.  I will catch up on my Bible study time to see if that will help.  I was really tired at 5, but now I'm wide awake!  Good sleeping weather, but not good for watt input to the generator!

1115-Studied for awhile.  Then read from "The Christian History of the Constitution of the United States of America - Christian Self Government" by Verna M. Hall.  A tome of a book!  Basically a compilation of historical documents and writers, etc. An excellent source book, but not one you can read quickly.  Some portions are are in Old English which you have to read a couple of pages at a time, and even then it's difficult to understand.

1228- Moved down the lake to a better spot on a beach in a small cove. (Leg 12, 1 nm, 5.6 kts ave.)  May stay here a couple days?  Went ashore to take some video.

1507-73F/79F.  Went up and hiked around a bit and took some photos. Removed the grass from the prop and swam, since I was in the water anyway.  The air is cool compared to most weather I've experienced so far.  Very pleasant.  Can't decide what to eat for dinner but decided to go with spaghetti, salad, roll, and red wine.

1605-Finished dinner.  Will relax with some red wine on the aft deck.

1813-76F/76F.  Took my chair and shore bag up on the high escarpment overlooking the site.  Just sat, observed, and enjoyed the quiet of the evening.

A squirrel took an attack run at me and I had to yell and chase him away with a stick, he came very close and persisted with his parries chattering incessantly.  Not sure why he was so upset?

Read my book but it started to get cool as the sun went behind the trees so I returned to the boat.  Solar is at 59%.  This will get me through another day plus.  Up from 37% last night, a 22% gain.

1927-74F/71F.  Sat out on the stern deck reading but decided it was getting cool enough to go inside and read in bed.  I was short on sleep anyway.
